Who runs the site

Calculate My Salary is an independent website focused on UK pay and payroll deductions. We are not affiliated with HMRC and do not provide personal financial, tax or legal advice.

Editorial policy

  • Primary sources only. We use published guidance from HMRC, GOV.UK, the Scottish Government, the Student Loans Company and The Pensions Regulator.
  • No affiliate bias. We have no affiliate relationships with pension providers, ISA platforms or lenders.
  • Transparent assumptions. Every calculation on the site has a plain-English assumptions page so you can see exactly what we modelled and what we didn't.
  • Clear dates and versioning. Articles retain their original publication date. A substantive edit has a separate update date. We show a factual review date only where a review is recorded; deploying the website does not count as a new editorial review.

How we build the calculator

The calculator uses a shared calculation engine for published UK tax bands, National Insurance, pensions and student loans. Its annual results and monthly averages estimate the settings you choose. It is not payroll software and does not reconstruct your complete cumulative PAYE record or every irregular pay period.

Corrections policy

If you spot a rate, threshold or calculation that doesn't match HMRC, please contact us. Include the page, tax year and settings needed to reproduce the result. Do not send a National Insurance number, bank details or an unredacted payslip. We check reports against the stated assumptions and official guidance, then correct confirmed errors.

Privacy and data

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The salary you type is used in your browser. Older links containing calculation query parameters send those values to our hosting service when opened.
