How this estimate works
Employee pension rate: 7.4%. Pension is deducted from the pensionable pay entered before Income Tax, but does not reduce NI. Annual pay is held constant throughout the tax year.

More about this calculation
Use the pay agreed by your school
The preset advisory main and upper pay points apply from September 2026 in England. Schools can set their own pay within the applicable rules. Choose a custom salary if your school uses a different amount. London weighting is already included in the selected area’s pay.
Part-time pay and allowances
We multiply full-time basic pay by your working fraction and add the actual annual pensionable allowances entered. The pension tier uses the resulting annual salary rate. Do not reduce the allowance twice.
A steady salary, not a September back-pay estimate
This holds the selected annual salary constant for the whole tax year. It does not blend the April–August and September–March scales or calculate arrears. It excludes supply work, overtime, leadership scales unless entered as custom pay and other UK nations’ pay arrangements.
